Abstracts

Deadline: January 6, 2006

Submit your single-page abstract by Friday January 6, 2006 to: labastro@physics.unlv.edu. Please pre-register when you submit your abstract by completing the registration form and e-mail it with your abstract to labastro@physics.unlv.edu. You may prepare your abstract as either a LaTeX file or an ascii (text only) file. Do not include any figures or tables nor use any special commands or style files.

The abstracts will be compiled into a booklet that will be provided to each participant at the workshop and will also be posted on the Workshop web page and on the NASA Astrophysics Data System (ADS). Note that most papers will be presented as posters (see "Meeting Format" below); however, the Scientific Organizing Committee will select some to be short oral presentations. Please let us know if you have a preference. You will be notified by e-mail of the decision on your abstract by January 13, 2006.

Registration

Deadline: January 6, 2006

The registration fee is $125 for those who register by Friday, January 6, 2006; after January 6 or on site, the fee is $175. Make checks or money orders payable to Board of Regents. We are not able to accept payment by credit card. We will send an email confirming your registration when we have received your payment. Please register by completing the following registration form. Meeting Format

On both Tuesday, February 14 and Wednesday, February 15, there will be invited talks in the morning and in the afternoon. The contributed talks will take place during the session with related invited ones. Those papers to be presented orally will be selected by the SOC from the abstracts submitted by the January 6 deadline. All other papers will be presented at the Poster Sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. In the morning of Thursday, February 16, participants will split into topical breakout sessions to draft the Workshop report. The Thursday afternoon plenary session will be devoted to presentations of summary reports from the breakout sessions for the Workshop final report (White Paper). Posters and Reception

The Poster Session will be held on the evenings of Tuesday, February 14 and Wednesday, February 15 following the afternoon sessions and, in the same building where the Workshop is being held (Tam Alumni Center). All posters will be on display for both evenings and a Reception will be held each evening in conjunction with the Poster Session. Each poster is to be no larger than 4 x 4 ft (1.2 x 1.2 m). Each poster presenter is responsible for hanging and removing his/her own poster materials. Posters can be hung beginning at 8:00 AM on Tuesday and must be removed by 7:30 PM on Wednesday. Push pins and tape will be provided.

Proceedings

The papers presented by the invited speakers and 4-page (maximum) summaries of all the contributed papers (oral and posters) will be published as a NASA Conference Proceeding and will also be published by the NASA Astrophysics Data System (ADS). The deadline for submission of camera ready manuscripts is June 1st; detailed instructions will be provided later.

The workshop will be held at the Tam Alumni Center on the campus of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), Las Vegas, Nevada, 89154.

When making your reservation, please mention NASA Workshop to get the conference rate. The negotiated rate is $112.00 per night per suite, single or double occupancy. To get this rate, the reservation must be made on or before January 9, 2006. AmeriSuite is located on the west side of the UNLV campus. It is approximately 0.5 miles from the conference site. The Hotel provides free shuttle service between hotel and airport. Car rental is not recommended due to the limited parking space on campus.

When making your reservation, please mention UNLV Physics Department Conference to get the conference rate. The negotiated rate is $53.00 per night per suite. Extendedstay-Las Vegas-Midtown is located on the North East side of the UNLV campus. It is about 1 mile from the conference site. However, the hotel does not provide shuttle services to and from the airport. Car rental is not recommended due to the limited parking space on campus.

Getting Around & Local Information

The campus of UNLV is about 2 miles from the McCarran International Airport. Rental cars are not recommended for transportation between the airports, hotels, and the meeting site. Taxi and Airport shuttles are available at the Airport. There is a variety of restaurants within walking distance of the Hotel and around the campus of UNLV.
