It creates sky maps to order.
They are pretty good, but not the best. But the images are all public domain---which makes them great for educational purposes. The official notice is:
For explicit ordinal dates, see Explicit ordinal dates.
The sky maps are for Las Vegas, Nevada: 36°10'30" N (rounded to 36° N) 115°08'11" W (rounded to 115° W), PST=UTC-8, UTC=PST+8, PDT=UTC-7, UTC=PDT+7.
The URLs have Universal Time (UT) and you will need to be careful about whether the conversion is to standard time or daylight saving time (DST).
For the switch times between PST and PDT, see Wikipedia: Daylight saving time in the United States.
The sky maps are for a reasonably early observing time. But you can easily update them for your circumstances.
The year is updated by yours truly every year until whenever.
You can update other URL parameters if you need to and can figure out how to.
Eventually, yours truly will probably have a sky map for every ordinal date.
The Julian day on the URL apparently doesn't need updating. It's just informational and is not used in the calculation of the map, it seems.
