Clyde Tombaugh (1906--1997) discovered Pluto using blink comparison in 1930---just up the hill from Flagstaff, Arizona at the Lowell Observatory.
Tombaugh did it by human eye, nowadays it's done by the computer, almost certainly using AI sometimes.
