Ancient Greek theater at Segesta

Caption: The ancient Greek theater (built c. 300 BCE) in Segesta, Sicily, Italy. An arm of the Mediterranean Sea is in the distance.

The ancient Greeks liked to have a view in their theaters---if the play was dull, they could just enjoy the scenery/landscape.

Yours truly sat under that tree at the middle left and had a snack in 2006 June.

Segesta is NOT so far from the hometown, Elea on mainland Italy, of Parmenides (early 5th century BCE). The theater was built long after his death---except in the telescoping of history.
