Exam 2 Information: Spring / Summer / Fall

The symbol ??? means there is still some uncertainty. The uncertainties will be eliminated as the exam time approaches or at otherwise appropriate times. The hidden comment "update" indicates something that may need updating for the current semester.

  1. Exam 2 is tentatively scheduled as below. As the time approaches, we will firm up the date.

  2. The Exam 2 will cover:
    1. Ast 103: Planetary Systems IALs 6,7,8, 9,10,11.
For 2023 summer, IAL 21 is off the course: it is NOT covered, NOT on exams, NOT on the final, and NOT an assigned reading-homework-self-testing (RHST) for background knowledge.
    2. Ast 104: Stars & Cosmology IALs 6,7,8,19,20,21,22.
IAL 23 is NOT on exams NOR the final. However, it is still an assigned reading-homework-self-testing (RHST), except IAL 23 has NO homework to self test on, and so it's just a reading insofar as it can be read since the narrative has never been completed.
  3. The exam is entirely multiple-choice with 72 questions in 75 minutes (50 questions in 50 minutes for summer semester exams). It is CLOSED book/notes. About 50--70 % of the questions are drawn from the homeworks---the rest are NOT---but they are based on the lectures.
