SN 1997br Ia in ESO576-040

Geoffrey Chaucer with an astrolabe.

OBJECT: SN 1997br Ia in ESO576-040 (SBc galaxy) which in Leda is
         ESO576-040 (Leda).
Leda is ambiguous about whether the Galaxy name is
         ESO576-040 or ESO576-G40.
DISCOVERY: 1997apr10.6 UT by Li et al.
MAXIMUM: 1997apr20.6 (JD 2450559.1 +/- 1.5) in B (li1999, p. 2712, but note the value in the table probably is the right
one as opposed to the one in the foot note to the other table.
See the US Navy Observatory Julian Date Converter.
This day of the year 110.
SUPERNOVA of the YEAR: M = 70.

OBSERVATIONS: From 1) SUSPECT: 11 of 18 li1999 spectra and no others. 2) David Branch /home/branch/synow/97br: these seem to be li1999 spectra, but he has days 10, 12, and 14 relative to Bmax which are not on SUSPECT. But he seems not to haves days -4 (one of them), 21, 47, and 81. 3) Eddie Baron: none. SPECTRUM LOG: JD times for the SN 1997br spectra of li1999. Bmax from li1999 1997apr20.6 (JD 2450559.1 +/- 1.5). The li1999 spectra from SUSPECT all seem deredshifted. JD Bmax Heliocentric velocity (Leda, 2007jul01) 0559.1 2086.
