The Venus image is computer reconstruction of its surface from radar mapping. Venus is always swathed in thick clouds an presents a pretty bland appearance.
Note this image is from 2003 before the New Horizons spacecraft in 2015 gave us the first up-close images of ex-planet Pluto. The shown image here is from the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) and it is about the best that can be done from near the Earth. Pluto's moon Charon is a bit more than half the diameter of Pluto.
