The snow and slush makes me nostalgic for Canada---the True North---but NOT that nostalgic.
H. Floris Cohen (1946--) studied history Leiden University---it's his Alma Mater---but he's professor at Utrecht University---both universities are in the Netherlands---he's Dutch.
Floris is my guru for the Scientific Revolution of the 16th century and 17th century (inner core at least) in Europe. His books on the subject are The Scientific Revolution: a Historiographical Inquiry (1994) and How Modern Science Came into the World: Four Civilizations, One 17th-Century Breakthrough (2011).
