Stag at Sharkey's

    Caption: Stag at Sharkey's, 1909.

Sharkey's Athletic Club was the back room of a tavern in New York City.

Only members could box---it was a fight club---but an outsider could be given temporary membership---he was stag.

From an outside perspective, the winners in evolution are sometimes just lucky---unlike those poor dinosaurs (see Cretaceous-Tertiary (K-T) extinction event).

From an inside perspective, it's survival of the fittest.
