Glastonbury from Glastonbury Tor

Caption: "The western half of the town of Glastonbury, Somerset, England, looking west from the top of Glastonbury Tor. The tall church tower on the right is the parish church of St John the Baptist on High Street, the Glastonbury's main street." (Slightly edited.)

The ruins Glastonbury Abbey are hidden by trees and the varying slope of Glastonbury Tor which is the hill we are looking from and which is also a tor in the usage of South West England.

Glastonbury has the fictitious claim to being Avalon of King Arthur.

The claim was concocted as a publicity stunt to help raise funds for Glastonbury Abbey circa 1190.

But Glastonbury as Avalon has become a beloved legend---it's a fine legend.
