Caption: Boethius (c.477--524) being instructed by Lady Philosophy in an early printed edition (i.e., an incunable) of his book the Consolation of Philosophy (c.524). The edition was printed in Ghent (now in Belgium) in 1485. It has "has many hand-painted illustrations showing Lady Philosophy and scenes of daily life in 15th-century Ghent."
