I am an Associate Professor in the Physics and Astronomy Department in the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. I moved to Las Vegas from Boulder, Colorado where I was a Sagan Fellow at JILA in the University of Colorado, Boulder for nearly three years. Prior to this I spent three years as a Giacconi Fellow at the Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore. I completed my PhD in 2009 at the University of Cambridge, UK, supervised by Professor Jim Pringle.
My research deals with highly topical questions in astrophysics, such as how star and planetary systems form and why supermassive black holes grow in the centres of galaxies. I use analytic and numerical methods in gas dynamics to study the theory of these processes.
