      1. Lighthouse, Port Colborne Credit. My father worked here briefly before I was born---which was just a couple hundred meters away at Port Colborne General Hospital---which is where my mother worked. Credit.

    2. McMaster University
      1. McMaster University Credit. It's at the very western tip of Lake Ontario.

      2. Me in Nature This paper got me my first job at the University of Oklahoma---and put me permanently on road it seems.

    3. Oklahoma
      1. Oklahoma Physics Group Photo, 1988 I'm there behind David Branch, my boss. I think grad student Doug Miller took this photo---which is why he's not in it.

      2. David 2006 Galaxy contest winners. Front row: Madelaine Culp, Rose Ferrier, David Jeffery Back row: Frances Searcey, Stan Solloway, Vickey Kennedy, Dion Mayes, Dorothy Brinker, Bill Dragoo, and Russell Long. Credit: Helen Duchon

    4. Munich
      1. Marianplatz, Munich Credit I went with David Branch on his sabbatical to Munich 1988--1989. The Munich Sternwarte is only a mile or so from Marianplatz where the Rathouse is and the Cathedral is just to the left. The big Christmas fair is in Marienplatz and the Fasching (Mardi Gras) is celebrated downtown. Oktoberfest is off out of the old city.

    5. Jerusalem
      1. Panorama of Jerusalem from the Mont of Olives Credit. I was there for the 6th Jerusalem Winter School for Theoretical Physics on Supernovae over New Years 1988--1989.

    6. Les Houches
      1. Les Houches Physics School images

      2. View from the Les Houches Physics School of Mont Blanc This is in winter. I was there in 1990 August for the summer school on supernovae. My schools fees were waived since I was unemployed at the time---the postdoc life style with periodic bouts of unemployment.

    7. Harvard
      1. Harvard

      2. Harvard College Observatory images

    8. Barcelona
      1. Sagrada Familia I used to catch the metro here every morning to go to work.

      2. Las Ramblas I wandered along this drag most weekends to people watch and see the street mimes.

      3. Barcelona images

    9. Vanderbilt, Nashville
      1. Dyer Observatory Credit This is the way Dyer Observatory looked when I was there. It's on top of a hill outside of Nashville. In those days, going there was like entering a time warp. The 1950's never ended and the ghost of Carl Seyfert was nearby.

    10. Oak Ridge
      1. Oak Ridge National Laboratory (X-10) Credit

      2. Oak Ridge International Folk Dancers Credit This is from 2006---long after I left---but some of the old gang are still there.

    11. Las Vegas
      1. The Strip, Las Vegas Credit

        • Caption: Steve Lepp and I showing off are bald spots in the conference room of UNLV's physics department. I've no recollection of this picture being taken and it's not a usual colloquium since no one but Steve and me are recognizable. Maybe a talk for summer students.

Credit: Someone, but yeck I'm in the image.

          Permission: Who cares.

      2. Tao, Steve, Familiar Face, and Jim in the mail room Credit

    12. Socorro, New Mexico
      1. Socorro, New Mexico images

    13. Washburn University
      1. Kuehne Bell Tower So that's what it's called. I never knew.

      2. Carole Chapel

      3. Crane Observatory on Top of Stouffer Hall Credit. I used to help out at public nights.

    14. Dublin
      1. Dublin

      2. Three Fates, St. Stephen's Green Credit

      3. Trinity College Dublin

      4. Long Room of Trinity College Dublin Library Credit.

Book of Kells page Credit. A masterpiece of 8th century illuminated manuscript technique---a bit overwrought I think. The movie was probably better.

      5. Fermullan, Northern Ireland

    15. Cefalu, Italy
      1. Conference Images

    16. Moscow, Idaho
