The Last Saturday of March is imminent.  And that means DANCING!
 
So, tomorrow night, March 31st is our monthly Old Time Barn Dance (aka Contra Dance)
at the Charleston Heights Arts Center.  As this is still the month of St. Paddy's Day, there just may be some green in the hall - feel free to add to the hues.

Directions:  CHAC is one block west of Arizona Charlies, and 2 blocks northwest of the intersection of W. Charleston Blvd. and Decatur Blvd. From Highway 95, take the Decatur exit, go south on Decatur for 4 stoplights, and turn right on Evergreen St.  This is the street between the Arizona Charlie's Casino and their parking lot to the south.  Go west on Evergreen, and at the first stop sign, turn left onto Brush St.  CHAC is the 2nd building on the right.

April 1 (Sunday)
Celtic Cove performs at Lake of Las Vegas
 
Celtic Cove, a traditional celtic music trio, is performing this Sunday, 2p-5p, April 1st (no fooling), at the Auld Dubliner, Lake of Las Vegas.  The group features vocals, accordion, guitars, mandolin, tenor banjo, dulcimer, whistle, and percussion. 
 

April 5 (Thursday) and April 16 (Monday):  
English Country Dancing rises anew
 
Relax from your work day with the soothing tunes and dance moves of English Country Dancing, the "more-refined" cousin of contra dancing. Think elegeance, grace, propriety, and, of course, eye-contact and just a little bit of flirting...  Sponsored by University Historical Dance Enthusiasts.  A wide range of dances are featured, including those danced prior to 1700 as well as modern dances.  All levels of dancers are welcomed, and all dances are taught and cued after the music begins.  Dress is casual and wear comfortable shoes!  Want to read more about ECD?  Go to our website, http://snocd.raincloudpub.com/

April 20, 2007, Friday, Lambarena - An African Inspired Ballet
West Las Vegas Library Theatre, 6 pm

The Nevada Ballet Theatre, Inc. presents a thrilling fusion of African dance and ballet. "Lambarena," conceived and choreographed by Val Caniparoli, is an eight movement, emotion-filled work that boldly merges the vocabularies of classical ballet and African dance. Comprised of African rhythms and melodies with extended passages from J. S. Bach, the music, played on African and Western instruments, was composed to honor Albert Schweitzer, an is a ballet rich in cultural significance and meaning.
