One and all are invited to the Arthurian Ball with the theme of Seven Virtues and Seven Vices to be held January 13th.
Countess Ealasaid will be teaching dancing during the day and there will be a feast and ball in the evening. The event will be held at the American Legion, 508 California Ave., Boulder City, NV 89005.  Site opens at 9am and closes at 10:30pm with classes starting at 10am. There will be a scrumptous feast and lunch prepared; for any food or allergy concern please contact Diana at Tantralya@hotmail.com. The site fee is $10 for members, $13 for non-members, $6 for youth 6-15. Children 5 and younger are free.  Make checks payable to "SCA Inc/Barony of Starkhafn." Due to the nature of this event it is not suitable for all children and there will be no children activities available. Your site fee covers both feast and lunch. Please let all your friends know about this
fabulous event. If you have any questions please contact at zoet.hart@yahoo.com.

The following is a missive for Countess Ealasaid, dance leader:

Greetings Gentle Dancers!

As always our Ball will feature the best of dances from the British Isles. Each set of dances includes both English and Scottish dances.  A few popular bransles have been included, and 2 "folk dances" just for the enjoyment of our mundane guests from the International Folk Dancing Community. Each set also features at least one "advanced" or "for those who know" dance - be sure to come to the workshop to learn those as they will NOT be taught at the Ball. There's also at least one slower dance in each set, to allow us to show off our more courtly moves.

Each dance EXCEPT the "Adv." dances will be walked once (but only once!) or briefed at the Ball. They'll all be "called." Dances marked "Adv." will only be briefed at the Ball.

Here's the proposed dance order:

Horses Bransle in a circle
Peat Fire Flame ADV
Rufty Tufty/Heartsease
Chestnut ADV
Hole in the Wall
"Justice & Lust" to bagpipes

Epping Forest
Califian Bransle OR Black Almain - If Mistress Jeanne indeed has the
music for it
Celtic Cross ("The Battle of Harlaw") Int: If you didn't learn it at the workshop, don't try it, but we'll walk it ONCE as a refresher
"Duke De Sevigny's Winter"
John Tallis' Canon ADV
Childegrove

Prize-giving

Sellenger's Round
Michael and All Angels ADV - In honor of our serving members
Postie's Jig
La Bastringue
Korobushka

As you can see, that's a lot of dances! We hope you'll enjoy this All Dance, All Day, All the Time event

For those who have been attending the English Country Dancing classes at the Jewel Box theatre, you have already danced 50% of the dances on the following list.  So if you attend the Saturday workshop, you'll have no trouble dancing the night away at the Ball!  It sounds like it will be a fun time.  If interested in "borrowing" a custome, contact Amanda at  Peameeka@hotmail.com.  If you have not been at the Jewel Box that much, most of the above dances are pretty easy to pick up, and there are always others within reach to help newcomers through the dances.
