Just some updates since the February=20 e-mail:
 
1.  Error in February dance = e-mail: =20 There is no English Country Dancing on February 27th, = although=20 it is shown on the calendar at the end of the e-mail. The next and last = ECD in=20 February is on Monday the 13th. 
 
2.  This Saturday, = February=20 11thThere is a new=20 ballroom dance club at UNLV, with open membership to = the=20 public. The Ballroom Dance Club of Las Vegas will be = having their=20 first dance party on Saturday, February 11, 2006, from = 2:00-=20 5:00pm in the McDermott Complex Dance Studio, Room 302. Admission is = free.=20 When questioned whether their party would require Student ID to get = in to,=20 Danika (the president) said dancers just have to tell the front = desk at=20 McDermott PE that they are there for the dance = party. Maps of the UNLV=20 campus are at:  http://maps.unlv.edu/dow= nloadPrint.html.=20 McDermott=20 PE is building 45.  If you have any = questions=20 about the dance party or the club in general, please email ballroomclublv@yahoogroups= .com.=20 Thanks to JB for passing on the info.
 
3.  Contra Dance Calling=20 Workshop:  Some folks have expressed interest in calling=20 dances.  I'll hold a calling workshop on Saturday February 25, from = 9 to 12=20 noon, in the northwest part of town. Please let me know if you are=20 interested in attending, or if this is not a good day, that you are = interested,=20 and we'll see what would work for you.  Reply by e-mail.
 
4.  Ethnic Express's Night = Out at=20 Magura's, the Bulgarian restaurant, 7 pm.  An evening of = tasting=20 the great Bulgarian dishes of this establishment, plus international=20 dancing.  1305 Vegas Valley Drive, east of Maryland Pkwy, between = D.I. and=20 Karen.
 
4.  Febraury 16th:  = Accoustic=20 Routes welcomes = back their=20 favorite guest at An Evening with James Lee Stanley, = Freelance=20 Human Being, Thursday, February 16th, at 8 PM at the = Highland = Office Center, 2753 South Highland Ave.  Tickets are $11 in advance = ordered=20 online, or $15 at the door.=20

Not only does James write beautiful, intelligent, well-crafted = songs, but=20 he sings and plays the guitar so well he makes the whole thing look = effortless!=20 In addition, he punctuates his performance with sidesplitting repartee = between=20 numbers, as you might expect from someone who toured for several years = as the=20 opener for comedian Stephen Wright.

 

As an artist, James had a Top-5 hit with Coming Out of Hiding. = He also=20 scored the Emmy-winning Cathy specials for prime time CBS. With more = than 20=20 albums to his credit, this remarkably talented singer-songwriter has = garnered=20 some incredible praise over the years. FI magazine hailed his solo album = Freelance Human Being as a masterpiece and listed it as one of the top = 200 CD's=20 of all time. James just completed a new musical, Sex and the Single Mom, = which=20 is scheduled for release in winter of 2006.

 

His most recent project, a joint effort with longtime friend = and=20 collaborator John Batdorf, is All Wood and Stones. It's a collection of = acoustic=20 versions of classic Rolling Stones songs. The reviews have been = outstanding and=20 all the songs have been getting great airplay, particularly on XM = Satellite=20 Radio. The independently produced CD was also recently picked up by = AEZRA/EMI=20 for worldwide release.
