Macedonian Dance = Workshop
 
Ljupco Manevski (dance = master and=20 lead dancer of Tanec, the national folk ensemble of Macedonia) and = Goran=20 Alacki (master accordionist) will be leading a Macedonian Dance = Workshop as part their US tour.  Following the conclusion of =
the=20 workshop, folks are invited to continue the party at Bahama Breeze, a = restaurant=20 in the Hughes Center, off of Paradise.  Maps will be available at = the=20 workshop. Charleston Heights Arts Center, 2:30 to 4:30.  Cost:=20 $10.
 
Directions:  CHAC is=20 one block west of Arizona Charlies, and 2 blocks northwest of the = intersection=20 of W. Charleston Blvd. and Decatur Blvd. From Highway 95, take the = Decatur exit,=20 go south on Decatur for 4 stoplights, and turn right on Evergreen = St.  This=20 is the street between the Arizona Charlie's Casino and their parking lot = to the=20 south.  Go west on Evergreen, and at the first stop sign, turn left = onto=20 Brush St.  CHAC is the 2nd building on the = right.
 
Israeli Folk = Dancing=20 with Amnon Eilat
 
Amnon just returned from an Israeli = dance camp in=20 California, and is likely eager to teach some of the dances he picked up = there.  6 - 7 pm: Beginners' dances, 7-10 pm, = intermediate and=20 advanced dances
  • Location:  the Israeli Cultural Center at=20 Or-Bamidbar, 2991 Emerson Avenue. From Desert Inn and Eastern, = go=20 south one block to Emerson.  Go east on Emerson to the = very=20 end.  There is another Jewish synagogue in the 2700 block, = but=20 that is not the end of the street!  Keep going!

    Location:   Jewel=20 Box Theatre, Clark County (Flamingo) Library, 1401 E. Flamingo=20 Ave.
    Time:  6:30 to 8:45 = pm.

    Directions:  The library is between = Maryland Parkway and Eastern Ave., on the south side of the = street.  The=20 library entrance that is close to the Jewel Box theatre is the door = closest to=20 the intersection of Flamingo and Escondido.  Inside the door, turn = left, go=20 down a short flight of stairs, and the Jewel Box is the room on your=20 right.
     
     
    Wednesday, January 25:  = International Folk Dancing with the Ethnic=20 Express: 
     
    Review the Macedonian dances = learned at=20 today's workshop.

    Saturday, January 28:  Old Time=20 Barn Dance
     
    Our local band will liven up the = evening with=20 snappy fiddlin' music.  If you have = moved=20 here from another dance community, do come out and enjoy the lively = music, the=20 camaraderie, and the laughter, and get your dancing fix!  We = encourage any=20 first-timers to attend the 1/2 hour lesson that starts at 6:30 pm, as = it is=20 designed to give newcomers a basic primer on what constitutes a contra = dance,=20 and help the dance flow more smoothly throughout the evening.  =
     
    Location:  = Charleston Heights=20 Arts Center, 800 S. Brush Street, Las = Vegas
    Time:  = Contra dance=20 instruction at 6:30 pm, dancing from 7 to 10 pm. 
    Cost:  = General=20 admission:$6; members of SNOCD:$5; students and active military:=20 $3.
