Friday, Nov. 4:  ACOUSTIC=20 ROUTES

FRIDAY!  FRIDAY!  FRIDAY!    Don=92t forget to = come see=20 TERRI HENDRIX=20 AND LLOYD MAINES, this FRIDAY  night, 8PM at the = Highland Office Center, 2753, South=20 Highland.  It = is an=20 unusual FRIDAY night show, but this one was too good to pass up.  Tickets are $11 in advance = through=20 Paypal, at www.acousticroutes.com,=20 or $15 at the door. =20

Hendrix's=20 patchwork quilt of sound is the sort of lovingly made music that often = slips=20 beneath the commercial radar. But those who do find it are justly = rewarded. The=20 teaming of Hendrix and seasoned veteran Lloyd Maines is slowly causing a = stir=20 among fans of folk, alternative country and literate pop music. = Hendrix's wry=20 wordplay and Maines' rustic songcraft nicely = combine for a=20 sound that can be as whip-smart as Michelle Shocked's and bare-knuckled = as=20 TomRussell's.
=97Scott McLennan, Worcester (Mass.) Sunday=20 Telegram

Terri Hendrix is = as=20 independent a performer as they come.   The San Marcos, = Texas  based singer-songwriter has = hallways=20 traveled her own road, dropping out of Hardin-Simmons University and the = study=20 of opera to milk goats for guitar lessons and perfect her unique style = on the=20 Texas open-mic circuit.  = Her one of=20 a kind blend of folk, pop, country and rock has built an incredible = following=20 and allowed her to create her own label, complete with e-commerce and a = 50,000=20 member mailing list.

And what to do = next?  For Terri, it was to take time = off to=20 look at her career and work on her newly purchased =93fixer upper=94 = home, complete=20 with ducks and polka dot wallpaper. =20 The experience led her to make a comparison of themes in her life = and her=20 current writings and the result was her current CD, =93The Art of = Removing=20 Wallpaper.=94

=91Every song is = about how=20 things may look one way on the outside, but they might really be = something=20 totally different,=94 says Hendrix of her work.

Recorded in = Austin with = musical co=20 hort, co producer and business partner, Lloyd Maines (Grammy winning = producer of=20 the Dixie Chicks and talented musician in his own right) the CD is an=20 examination of life=92s truths.  = It=20 includes and impassioned take on LL Cool J=92s =93I Need Love=94 and the = more gospel=20 sound of =93Monopoly=94  = or =93Judgement=20 Day.=94

Terri Hendrix is a gifted = songwriter=20 and performer. Her ability to reach people with music and her positive = attitude=20 amazes me. Listen to her music, see her, and then . . . you=92ll=20 understand.
