Four time World Champion Hoop and& Champion Fancy = Dancer,=20 Derrick Suwaima Davis (Hopi/Choctaw), and drummer, Eldred Matt (Apache), = will=20 present a 30-minute family program of dance and music. Dances featured = will=20 include the Horse Tail, Friendship and Hoop Dance where Davis will = highlight the=20 animals created by the formations of the hoops. In addition to a = storytelling=20 piece called Rez Dawgs, the duo will discuss the importance of the drum = and the=20 playing of shakers, rattles and flutes in Native American music. This = project=20 has been funded, in part, by a grant from the Nevada Arts Council, a = state=20 agency, and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal = agency.
