Since the 1990 = release of his=20 first U.S. recording Guitars and Other Cathedrals , Adrian Legg has more than = lived up to=20 the expectations stirred by an ongoing avalanche of praise from critics, = fans,=20 top guitar mags and peers alike. Joe Satriani once said, =93He's simply = the best=20 acoustic guitar player I've ever heard. He plays like he has = hammers for=20 fingers.=94
The genius that the = Boston=20 Globe has called =93technical brilliance paired with a troubadour's = tale-weaving=20 skill=94 led him from 1993-96 to be voted Best Fingerstyle Guitarist = four years=20 straight by the readers of Guitar Player magazine. On Inheritance, his second release for = Favored Nations=20 and ninth overall, Legg blends his extraordinary virtuosity on the = acoustic with=20 a lush sonic arena that harkens back to the musical textures of his = childhood=20 life before the guitar.=20
A colorful mix of = gentle=20 contemplative ballads, snappy and percussive jams, rock-edged = electricity and=20 hints of folk music, Irish jig and traditional church music influences,=20 Inheritance marks a radical contrast from the=20 unadorned, minimal production approach of the London born guitarist's = rootsy=20 2003 label debut Guitar Bones .

Old = Time Barn=20 Dance at CHAC, with = Special=20 Guest Caller - Bev Bernbaum - from "back East" = - =20 Bev has been calling in the upstate New York - Ontario, Canada area for = the last=20 few years, including at weekend dance camps. So, we're really glad = that=20 she'll be in Las Vegas on a weekend of our dance (for a convention), and = willing=20 to do the calling for our end-of the month Barn Dance. =20
From the Web: Bev = Bernbaum has=20 been addicted to all things contra since she was first introduced to it = at the=20 wonderful Falcon Ridge Folk Festival (Albany, NY) in the summer of 1996. = Not=20 long afterwards, she made her debut as a caller: for a group of drunken = students=20 in a college pub! Seeing that things went much better than anticipated = that=20 night, she decided to keep at at. Since then, she has been in demand as = a=20 regular caller in Toronto (where she has been president of the Toronto = Country=20 Dancers), Hamilton, Buffalo and Owen Sound; she has also made calling=20 appearances in Southington CT and Peterborough, Ontario. Bev's = philosophy is to=20 call the dances that she likes to dance herself. She's always on the = lookout for=20 interesting figures or formations to mix things up. Her clear voice, = calm manner=20 and straightforward teaching style make contradancing a pleasure for = both=20 beginning and experienced dancers. Once you've danced to her calling, = you'll=20 know why Hamilton Country Dancers is delighted that she is = returning.
