Jean Marais

French film star with archetypical leading-man handsomeness which is perhaps why his most famous role as the Beast in Jean Cocteau's Belle et Bete has him covered up in fur and fang. But his second most famous role in Cocteau's Orphee as the poet Orphee himself, Marais appeared just as he was.

I've no idea of the copyright status of the images, and so I've broken the links.

  1. Some role or pose.
  2. From Orphee perhaps.
