J. B. Priestley (1894--1984)

J. B. Priestley was a prolific writers of novels and plays. Some of them stand up pretty well. He knew times and places now remote, and so can write of them from within. Bright Day may be his best novel. Works

   This is a mystery about a doctor and a missing patient in the 1960s in Britain. The Profumo scandal and the London 60's scene provides the context though the action is in the provinces. Not perfect, but of its ilk, worthy to while away an hour and suggest a better book maybe by Angus Wilson or A. S. Byatt.

   It is interesting the Priestley could connect so well to the 1960s when he was over 70.
