Dante' Commedia is, of course, a classic of Medieval thought and allegory.

    This includes The Divine Comedy (the Commedia) translated by Laurence Binyon which I confess to be being my favorite translation---not that I know many of them: yes, it's stylized and relies on archaisms to complete the difficult rhyme scheme, but it often has the sensuousness and bravura of poetry.
