Geoffrey Chaucer

Yehuda Amichai (1924--)

The Israeli poet. Poetry, as always, is all hit and miss for any single person. Some Amichai's poems translated to English are so good that one wonders if the translation is better than the original: "Sort of an Apocalypse", "Poems for a Woman", "Ballad of the Washed Hair", "The Visit of the Queen of Sheba", "Jacob and the Angel".
