DISCOVERY:  1987jul28 by the Berkeley Automated Supernova Search {filippenko1988} 
MAX:  1987jul31 +/- 4 in an ill-defined redside of the optical band (the ``red'' band) {filippenko1988}. 
           This day of the year 213 remembering that 1988 was a leap year.
SUPERNOVA of the YEAR:  11.
