Venus Tablets

Venus Tablet Obverse Venus Tablet revesrse Gifs of copies of the obverse and reverse of the Venus tablet of the reign of Babylonian King Ammizaduga (reigned 1550--1530 BC according to one chronology). They reveal knowledge of the Venus cycle (No-29). Many ancient copies of these tablets existed and which one this is I don't know.

Credit: ancient astronomers and copyists; modern credit: Langdon, S., and Fotheringham, J. K. 1928, The Venus Tablets of Ammizaduga (London ? or Oxford ?, 1928), Plate I, K160. (believed to be public domain); download site The Synchronization of Civilization in the Eastern Mediterranean in the 2nd Millennium BC.

Further information on the modern credit:

Well it seems that the images are public domain for sure in some jurisdictions and will public domain in all in 2007. But since they were part of a book or pamphlet I assume that they are covered by fair use. I think fair use covers my quote from Thompson too. But it is still unclear in what form Langdon et al. published and who was their publisher.
