Sorry, folks, but it looks like my little fountain of creativity has been capped. I can't send you to any of the fun places that used to be here (although they are still there if you know where to look).
About me...I am a physics/math major (isn't that unusual) from Humboldt State University in Way-Northern California. For 10 weeks in the summer of 1996 I worked for Dr. Kwong here at UNLV. Dr. Kwong is building an apparatus that traps ions and studies the charge transfer rate between those ions and atomic hydrogen. I assisted with the construction of the ion trap and some of the controling electronics.
If you are here searching for info about whether or not you should apply to this program, maybe I can help. I have found it to be a rather unexpected experience. I thought I would be solving differential equations or something in some highly structured program. Instead, I found that instead I was given the opportunity to participate in the nuts-and-bolts operation of a small, "not huge impersonal national lab," research facility.
