The Physics Department at University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) is seeking candidates for a full-time, 9-month, tenured/tenure-track Professor position and Executive Director of the High Pressure Science and Engineering Center (HIPSEC) to commence by July 1, 2010. The successful candidate is expected to maintain an individual research program while serving as Executive Director of HIPSEC to lead all HIPSEC activities. The Executive Director also will have a lead role in preparing proposals for extramural support of HIPSEC, including continuing the Cooperative Agreement with the Department of Energy (DOE)/National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) for studies related to NNSA's Stockpile Stewardship Program. Much of this work involves collaboration with scientists and engineers at DOE laboratories and NNSA; experience in these areas is advantageous.

A Ph.D. in Physics or related field from an accredited college or university is required. The successful candidate should have broad knowledge and research experience in Materials Science and be qualified to hold the rank of Professor at UNLV.

Salary competitive, contingent upon labor market and contingent upon funding.
